Looking for another option or plan to migrate from Refworks to the following?
Changes to your Refworks account
On Tuesday, May 12th, 2015, all RefWorks accounts for the University of Ottawa were migrated from Scholars Portal’s Canadian server, which is shutting down later this summer, to RefWorks’ main servers in the US. All your references, folders, attachments, and shares were kept fully intact. This transition enables you to take advantage of some of the product’s latest features and enhancements.
The new URL address to access your RefWorks account is: http://www.refworks.com/refworks
You now have a unique login name. As a result, the group code is no longer necessary to access your account, and will only be required to create new user accounts. If your current login name was already in use by another RefWorks user, you would have received a separate email with details on how to access your account and adjust your username.
Write-N-Cite (now called ProQuest for Word) will need to be re-installed. If you haven’t already done so, uninstall your current version of Write-N-Cite and go to “Tools” and “Write-N-Cite” in your new RefWorks account to download and install the latest version of ProQuest for Word.
IMPORTANT: Before installing, ensure that your computer has the latest update for the following programs, which are core to your operating system:
- Microsoft Word: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
- Java: https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
- Visual Studios Tools for Windows: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/ms178739.aspx
After closing all programs on your computer, please run the Word Plug-in installer and follow the online instructions.
The RefGrab-It bookmarklet will need to be updated so it can send data to your new account. Delete your current bookmark and re-install RefGrab-It by logging into your new RefWorks account and following the instructions located here: https://www.refworks.com/refworks2/help/Using_RefGrab-It_to_Capture_Web_Page_Data.htm
